The environment within Shults Residence Hall at Alfred State College, NY no longer aligned with students’ culture, discouraging them from using available on-site amenities and inhibiting their engagement with each other. Renovation of the hall needed to provide spaces that students felt comfortable with, could engage in, and also reflected today’s trends and student expectations.
During preliminary evaluations, both students and faculty were impressed by MyWay lounge seating’s large scale and comfort. They appreciated the functionality of the work arm and the sled bases’ ease of movement. MyWay’s modular design also offers the students flexibility for spontaneous reconfiguration. KI’s award-winning Sway lounge seating donned in Pallas Textiles added a modern and comfortable zone for students to lounge between classes. As a result, common areas were brought back to life with a bright and bold color pattern, creating spaces that foster student engagement.
